Their data driven battery analytics platform helps batteries be used and re-used more efficiently on an exploding market

Interview with Kristoffer Syversen at Nortical
Nortical was started three years ago when the tree co-founders Pavel Calderon, Axel Kullander and Kristoffer Syversen ran into each other and found that they had observed similar issues in the battery industry, and they had ideas on how to solve it. This was to build a data-powered battery analytics platform that help battery owners utilize their batteries more efficiently. The gains for companies, society, the energy and mobility markets are huge.
”I have been building things for as long as I can remember and have spent the last few years working with electrification, seeing first hand how important but complex batteries are. It was time to build better tools - so when we met up we got to work right away!” says Kristoffer Syversen at Nortical.

The global market for better battery use is global and exploding. Nortical is already working with global mobility companies, such as Volvo, Scania and Voi.

Nortical’s platform builds knowledge around the performance, efficiency, lifetime and environmental impact of Lithium-ion batteries, by translating battery usage data into useful knowledge and insights. The platform also recommends changes to optimize the usage of batteries and connects buyers and sellers of used EV’s and batteries, to enable a truly circular battery economy.

“We want to engage with our customers as early as is possible in their electrification journey, and then be part of optimizing battery utilization, from manufacturing and first use, further on to battery recycling and through 2nd life applications.”, says Kristoffer Syversen.

Western Sweden is becoming a strong battery hub and Nortical is situated right in the center of this development.

In 2020, Nortical raised €1.2 million which went into development of the platform. Next round is presently being raised. This capital will be used to scale up the team on the sales and tech sides.
”We have a clear vision of what we want to achieve; the sustainable, battery powered world of tomorrow!”, says Kristoffer Syversen.
